Pitts Engineering Works,LLC is a worldwide supplier of concrete equipment. Our experience with the extremely rugged heavy equipment industry, combined with our engineering and manufacturing expertise in concrete equipment is unmatched by anybody in the business. This broad range of activities allows us to have a perspective in each segment of our company that is quite unique- and is of tremendous benefit to our customers!
My principle love has always been heavy construction equipment...and I’ve been at it for 35 years. In that time, I have participated in the design, manufacture, and distribution of some of the world’s largest and most powerful heavy-equipment, and these many years of experience have been applied to the design and manufacture of our Concrete Titan product line. Although much, much smaller than the machinery I have worked with for so many years, the same principles of great strength, sufficient power, long durability, low maintenance, technological superiority, and exceptional performance have guided the continuous design and manufacturing refinements applied to the Concrete Titan 125F. Our Titan is the only concrete mixing trailer in the world to be genuinely called “Heavy-Duty”.
Other manufacturers of concrete mixing trailers will tell you that they have many years of experience in running trailered concrete operations; still others will tell you about their experience in manufacturing fabrications such as refuse containers. These competitors are fine people, and run good businesses. However, they do not have the experience with mobile construction machinery that we believe is required to serve our customers in the most superior way...and after all, a concrete mixing trailer IS construction machinery!
We were encouraged to begin manufacturing concrete mixing trailers in 1995 by my good friend, the late Mr. Bob Coleman, of Knoxville, Tennessee. Bob had retired from the construction machinery industry, and purchased a trailered-concrete business. All of Bob’s equipment was manufactured by our competitors. Bob and I had been friends for over 30 years, and I visited his operation frequently. It was a rare occasion that I stopped by and Bob wasn’t repairing or replacing drum support casters, gearboxes, dangling brake lines, or exposed wiring. And his mixing trailers looked like hell! Beat-up fenders, cracked frames, ripped-off lights...they really were a sight! Bob continually grumbled about the flimsy, lightweight construction of his machines, and the lack of innovation that seemed to prevail in the trailered-concrete equipment industry. He often commented that someone with the shop capabilities and expertise found in the construction machinery industry could easily build a superior machine, saving concrete mixing trailer users a fortune in downtime and maintenance, and making money at the same time. After listening to this for a couple of years, I took up Bob’s challenge.
Our competitors like to tell their prospects that the Concrete Titan is simply a side-line business for us, and that our commitment to the trailered concrete industry is only lukewarm. That was probably true in the early days, as we built Titans only when our shops had spare time. Even then, though, I had a great interest in the product, and along with our engineering staff, introduced dozens of features that we believed, and still believe, are simply obvious. We know the environment that these machines work in every day- after all, we’ve been in and out of concrete plants and on construction sites all of our lives- and everything we have incorporated into the Titan is designed to give our customers a better performing, more durable, lower maintenance, and longer life machine. We believe that we have certainly done so. Technologically advanced hydraulics, more robust frames, on board washout water systems, 100% enclosed wiring, heavier carrying capacity, greater braking power, and on and on. All to make the Concrete Titan simply worth more to our customers. We won’t “build-down” to the lightweight machines our competitors build...but we are pretty sure that you will begin to see them “build-up” to units more like the Titan.
After a few years, we realized that the Titan sales backlog had
grown to almost a year, and that due to the ever increasing demand from both new
customers and repeat customers, we could no longer build only in our spare time.
So, we formed a free-standing division, Pitts Engineering Works, LLC, whose sole
mission is to continually develop and manufacture the Concrete Titan 125F, and
related products. We believe that we are doing it right. In fact, the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers recently awarded us the coveted designation “Certified Manufacturer”, which is granted only after an extensive on-site inspection of facilities and products for compliance with their stringent manufacturing guidelines, and compliance with all applicable Federal laws. We are the ONLY manufacturer of concrete mixing trailers to have achieved this important and difficult honor. Every one of our Concrete Titan’s has the NATM Certification decal affixed to it, which is your assurance that the industry has given our machine its stamp of approval.
Concrete Contractor, a leading trade magazine for the concrete construction industry, surveyed their readers to determine which concrete equipment products were, in their opinion, the top 25 for the year. From the hundreds of products examined, the Concrete Titan was included in the “Top 25 Products for 2006", and we were presented with a very nice award as a result. Interestingly, one of our competitors had a specialty product in the top 25 as well...but it was NOT their concrete mixing trailer!
